Welcome

Overview

Upon the completion of this module you will be able to describe and use the structure and delivery method presented within this course, including the use of an online environment and the expectations for being successful.

Welcome to Your Online Community

This may or may not be your first experience in online delivery. In either case, this will hopefully be an enlightening educational experience. Not only will you attain the objectives for the course, but you will learn about online delivery and the tools in an online environment.

The key to this being an enjoyable and positive learning experience is how much you involve yourself in the online environment. Given that our contact is not immediate, and that the face-to-face component is not present, it will take a little extra effort to create a good learning environment.

What you will quickly find is that the course has been divided into eleven modules. Your task is to complete all the activities and assessments by the assigned dates. It is important to remember that this is not a self-paced course. There are set deadlines and online homework and assignments are due on specified dates.

To ensure that you have completed the requirement of each module, a checklist will be provided at the end of each module in the course contents. If you can check off all the points listed you have completed the module. If you have any questions or feel that you are off course please contact me as soon as possible so that we can get you back on track as quickly as possible.

In general, the weekly cycle of activities in the course is as follows:

  1. Start reading on first scheduled day of the module

  2. Complete the discussion activities

  3. Complete the assigned activities or assessments

  4. Complete the checklist at the end of each module

Instructor’s Note: Make sure, as you work through the modules, that you check back to the outline and calendar regularly as there will work assigned that is not directly attached to a given module.

Please take some time and look at how this course is laid out. Each area has a specific function or task. For example, the e-mail within this course will allow you to keep your course e-mail in a single location to ensure that nothing gets missed. Again, if you have any questions about the course, please contact me.
